This year has been a year of growth for NAPAC – we currently have 35 Volunteers and are hoping to recruit a further 30 over the next 3 years. This is in response to the number of calls we are receiving…an average of 800-1000 a week!
Once we have a Volunteer on board we recognise the importance of training, nurturing and appreciating them - as they are the service that we offer.
Furthermore it is NAPAC’s responsibility to ensure a quality service. This involves improving and developing the Support Line, working towards its aims and objectives, ensuring that we are meeting the needs of all those who call the line.
To support the Volunteers in their role NAPAC offers a training programme designed to develop their skills.
On the 6th of December we held our Christmas party for Volunteers - it was a wonderful opportunity to say a big ‘Thank you’ to all of them. They were each presented with a Certificate of Appreciation signed by one of our patrons, Antony Worrall Thompson. A big thank you goes to Simon Hughes (our local MP) who kindly gave up part of his Saturday evening to present these certificates with our Chair of Trustees (Jon Bird). It was also a delight to have World Record holder, Oliver Dudley, sharing his experience of rowing across the Atlantic whilst raising money for NAPAC.
We would also like to extend our huge gratitude to The Body Shop, The London Eye and Jacqueline Gold who all generously donated gifts to help us further appreciate our Volunteers. They provided the icing on the cake and the Volunteers were thrilled!
“We don’t pay our volunteers – not because they are worthless
but because they are priceless” (Sherry Anderson)
