Mini Minks

Now that I see you
I am drawn to you
I feel your joy and your pain
There is no one like you
You are beautiful, wonderful, unique
For so long you have waited
So alone, so isolated
Not being seen, invisible to me
When you tried to reach me
I didn’t like what I saw
Your wonder, I chose to ignore

How wrong I was to lay the blame
On the little girl that you are
But hate, disgust, guilt and shame
Is with you and I no more
It belongs out there with them
And not with my beautiful, wonderful child within

I know you couldn’t shed a tear
For you had nowhere to go
No safe place to take your fears
No one to protect you, Stop the hurt
Now you can cry, you can shed your tears
I will hold you, I will love you
No matter how ugly it all feels
Nothing you say, nothing you express
Will stop me loving you through the pain
It’s okay to hurt for all that has happened
It wasn’t your fault, it wasn’t you

Be free little girl, release your pain
Don’t be afraid, it can’t happen again
You are safe, I am here, I see you
Now that I see you, I won't leave you
I am delighted you are within me

I will protect you, together we are free.
