Survivors Poetry
The Road To Healing
The road to healing is long,
Emotions run high,
Take your time,
No matter how many sessions,
Take your time,
Let the anger out,
A victim no more,
But a survivor you are,
Be proud not ashamed,
Alone you are not,
Talk about it,
Write about it,
Let the emotions out,
People may run you down,
Call you a liar,
Befriend you too,
Feelings of isolation,
But isolated you are not,
There are those who understand,
Support you,
Listen to you,
It is about you,
Your pain,
Your hurt,
Your nightmares,
It is your healing process.
Peace In My Heart
To be,
Free from my past,
End the nightmares,
Peace in my heart,
Peace of mind,
Nights of sleep,
Is all I ask,
To live again,
Without crying,
Without looking back,
Give me strength,
To overcome,
The nightmare,
Of my past,
The 33 year old,
Nightmare.
Blame and Shame
Blame yourself,
For not having,
Said “STOP”,
You are not,
Not the one,
To blame.
Shame on you,
For blaming yourself,
You did not abuse,
Yourself,
Your abuser/s,
Are the one/s,
To blame.
Shame comes,
When you have done wrong,
Blame is only for,
Your abuser/s,
They shall forever,
Live with the guilt,
The blame and shame,
Of what they have done,
To you.
A Poem for an Abused Man
Do not feel ashamed,
Do not feel discouraged,
Do not fear showing,
Your pain,
You are human,
After all,
Do not fear of speaking,
Of what happened,
Open up,
Let the pain out,
Do not allow,
The anger,
The aggression,
Build up within you,
No one has the right,
To judge you,
To turn away from you,
You are a survivor,
Like I am
And like many other men.
