Survivors' Story
I am writing this as a survivor amongst my many family members that sexual abuse has affected. My husband is a paedophile, and has recently been convicted and sentenced to a prison sentence for his crimes against my daughter, stepdaughter, and niece.
Our story is a living testament to the importance of taking these paedophiles to the courts of justice. My children and niece took the very brave step of speaking out, something they had all their own reasons to keep silent about, for the entirety of their childhoods, for the million and one reasons not to, the main reason for keeping quiet was their belief that they would be disbelieved firstly, and then the effect it would have on the family, all valid reasons, and the fear he instilled in them all, but after the bombshell was dropped, we rallied together, supported the victims, then contacted the police. We were in a total state of shock, and behaved irrationally and emotionally, but gradually gained our composure.
We received good support from the child abuse team, whom acted quickly, and protected the victims, they know what they are dealing with, so don’t worry about being in danger.
I cannot personally tell you how these girls are coping, surviving or moving on with their lives, but I can tell you they will not be abused anymore, and he is now labelled for the evil and dangerous person he is, but I can tell you how I am coping, and I cope because I have been personally involved in bringing him to justice, I made the call to the child abuse team, so I helped to make it stop, I survive because he is out of our lives now and my children and niece are safe, I move on because I can only move forward from this, who would want to stay in the nightmare that was before.
The man named has convictions for serious criminal violence, and had a reputation for being volatile and dangerous, but was still arrested and is now on the sex offenders register, I tell you this because I am sure there are victims of sexual abuse who hold back because the perpetrator is as the above, and can only think about the negative outcome of the first phone call to get help.
I hope this brief account of our story will offer encouragement to those that need it, and hope to all those who are in the midst of the carnage created.
Be BRAVE, be STRONG, become A SURVIVOR, CHOOSE LIFE!
