Media Case Studies
Are you interested in speaking out for survivors?
Please join our Journalist Register
The Journalist Register is a list of people who are happy to talk to
the media about their experiences. We ask you to fill in a form with the
sort of details we need to match the media enquiry with a suitable person.
Sending back the form means that when a Journalist contacts NAPAC for
case studies of abuse, we will call you and give you information about
the proposed article and the Journalist's contact details. You are not
obliged to work with a journalist if you do not want to or if it is not
convenient for you.
All of your details will remain strictly confidential.
Talking about your experiences can be very positive for you and the public
image of survivors.
It is worth considering the following points:
It is likely the Journalist will have an angle in mind for their story.
Ask questions to find out what it is. Check if they want to use your name
and photo.
If you want a few minutes to compose yourself then ask the Journalist
to call back in five minutes.
Think about what you want to say. When you are interviewed
make sure you say what you want to say rather than what the Journalist
might want you to say.
Ask the Journalist to phone you back and read the text of the article
to you. If there is anything that you think is not appropriate say so
straight away.
Please print out this form
and return it to NAPAC.
If you have any queries about this, please contact
us.
