IF

If I said I had kicked a wall
I have still kicked something

If I said I had smelt a rose
I have still smelt perfume

If I said I had read the Bible
I have still read a book

If  I said I had been beaten by my father
I have still suffered child abuse

If I said I had been  neglected
I have still suffered child abuse

If I said I can't remember any of it
I have still suffered child abuse
