Your Prosecution StoriesVictorious StoriesWhen you’re a survivor of childhood or adolescent abuse, every now and then you wonder what would happen if you took your abuser to court. The progression of dreams or fantasies in your head can leave you with a sense of bitter pointlessness, because so much of the legal process is still an unknown. We're held back from coming forward to the authorities and stating the facts as we're so confounded by the steps and hurdles, and confused by the legal restrictions involved. NAPAC would like to gather some stories together written by people who took their abusers to court and won. We are interested in hearing from survivors living here in the UK who suffered abuse in childhood, that could have taken place anywhere in the world. If you are a UK resident, there is space on this site for your story. We will include stories of abuse from within your family or adopted family, from a family friend, your school, your Irish Industrial School, from an employer whilst in your adolescence, a Scottish borstal, a detention centre, whilst on a holiday, whilst in care, whilst living at an orphanage or anywhere else. Those who took their abusers through the legal process and won, can get writing support from us whilst they write their story. We hope to uncover and present those aspects of law and legal process that harm and hinder survivors unnecessarily, and as a group, we will be a more united influence upon the judicial bodies that continue to perpetuate short, inadequate sentencing. We wish to help educate other survivors who wish to begin a prosecution, but first need to prepare for the dangers and the traps, and find out where to get support. Morven Fyfe will give writing support and consider any account that secured an abuser’s conviction, and you can contact her either at morven_fyfe@hotmail.com, or at the NAPAC postal address.
