" It is good to know you are not alone. Sometimes I used to think I was the only one who had been to hell and back many many times. Thank you for listening. " ~ A female survivor

Volunteering for NAPAC

We are seeking people who are interested in giving up 2 hours a week to join the NAPAC Support Team, who run the Support Line. Potential volunteers will need to be able to easily travel in to our London Bridge offices.

The role of Support Team Volunteers

The Support Team Volunteers are the 'service' that NAPAC offers. Their role is to answer the NAPAC Support Line to men and women who have experienced any type of abuse during childhood. Within this, the role of the Support Team Volunteers is as follows:

  • To listen and understand in a non-judgemental, objective way.
  • To acknowledge that abuse will bring up various emotions for callers – and to normalise these.
  • To signpost onto other organisations where callers are looking for further support.
  • To support callers as they explore their circumstances during the call.
  • To explore possible options that callers may take – empowering them to make their own choices, enabling them to move forward.

How NAPAC supports their Volunteers

  • We provide a safe environment for you to work in.
  • We provide regular monthy supervision to discuss your volunteering and any successes and difficulties.
  • We provide 4 ongoing training days a year to cover more specific topics and issues that may come up on the Support Line.
  • We also provide tea, coffee and biscuits (in case this helps you make your decision to volunteer with us!).

Does this sound like something you'd like to do?

If it does then we want to hear from you...but first let us explain a bit about the process. Each potential Volunteer will need to complete our application form and the CRB Check Questionnaire.

  • The Application Form: Tells us why you are interested in volunteering for NAPAC and a little bit about yourself.
  • The CRB Check Questionnaire: Helps us start the process of completing the Police Check (which everyone has to do before going on the NAPAC Support Line).

Once we have received both of these from you, we'll invite you in for an informal chat so we can meet you and you can meet us.

Assuming we like each other, you will be invited to come along to our next Induction Training.

After having completed the Induction Training we'll arrange for you to come and shadow one of our experienced Support Team Volunteers before assigning you a shift.

Still interested?

Complete the following to forms and send them to Julie (julie@napac.org.uk).

We look forward to hearing from you!
